YouTube Live：YouTube网络直播频道正式上线

YouTube网络直播频道（YouTube Live ）正式上线，这也标志着YouTube正式进军网络直播业务，实现现场直播功能。
今天，11月23日，YouTube一个新的视频直播平台YouTube Live 正式上线了，据称，Youtube之所以创建这一平台，是源自Youtube社区的驱动，等于说是一个社区网友的大聚会。今天，Youtube 在美国旧金山启动“Youtube Live”节目，结合演唱会、派对、及娱乐综艺表演，邀请包括美日韩知名歌手现场演出最流行的热歌劲曲，以及放映精彩的原创YouTube影片，并邀请高人气的YouTube使用者现场助阵，包括饶舌歌手Will I AM、个性凯迪·佩里，以及Youtube荷兰明星Esmee Denters等等，这些明星都是因Youtube而走红。并且，这次盛大的Party通过YouTube Live频道全球同步现场直播。

粗略的浏览了一下目前的Youtube Live节目，感觉速度还不错，不愧是出于Youtube， 但节目的量还十分可怜，不过YouTube表示将会开播更多类似YouTube Live的节目，值得我们期待！另外，不知否是个人的原因，浏览是现实不很正常，漂亮的LOGO被滚屏节目遮盖，IE7和FF浏览器都已试过，请大家再作测试。
网络直播以其快速、真实性成为网络视频分享的一种热门方式，不过我觉得最大的问题还是网络速度。曾经看过网络电视，卡的感觉会使你的观赏性大打折扣！此次，网络视频的大哥级人物Youtube 开始进军网络直播业务，我个人觉得这是网络直播服务的一个转折，我们可以对它寄予一些厚望，希望它能带给我们更为高速、高清、稳定的网络直播节目。

How to Translate PDF & Word Documents with Google Translation

Say dad bought you a digital camera from Japan but the problem is that the PDF manual that came with the camera is also written in Japanese.
How do you quickly translate that PDF file into an English document ?
Solution: If the PDF document is not password protected, you can easily convert it into another language via Google Translate.
The idea is that you extract the text from the PDF file and pass it to Google Translate. Here’s how:
Step 1: Open Zoho Viewer (review) and upload the file(s). Other than PDF, you may also upload common Office file formats like doc, xls and ppt.
Step 2: Zoho Viewer provides a unique URL for each of your web document. Go to Google Translate, type that web address, select a language pair and hit the Translate button. Voilà!
Important: If the source document is multi-lingual, you should considering uploading to Slideshare since they handle foreign languages slightly better than Zoho Viewer. See a sample document from Zoho and Slideshare.
Slideshare will create a text transcript of your PDF document that can you pass on to Google Translate for converting into another language.
You may even extract text from PDF documents using Adobe Reader itself but again, this program doesn’t work too well with all languages.

Look at What Yahoo Could Have Won

Growing up in England, I always enjoyed watching the darts game show Bullseye. Host Jim Bowen took great delight in showing losing contestants the prize they just missed out on. "Look at what you could have won" was just one of his many catchphrases.

Why am I telling you this? It was the first thing that came to mind after reading Microsoft’s Kevin Johnson’s email to employees highlighting the much better offer Yahoo turned down, in favor of Google.

Here’s what Microsoft offered…

Microsoft would have invested $8 billion in Yahoo! at $35/share;
Microsoft would have purchased Yahoo!’s search assets for $1 billion, and assumed the operations and R&D expense while returning data back to Yahoo! for use in their advertising business; and
Microsoft and Yahoo! would have entered into a long-term search partnership, where Microsoft would have provided favorable economics to Yahoo! search, including a three-year guarantee of higher monetization than Yahoo!’s Panama paid search system currently provides.
Johnson argues the following benefits Yahoo would have realized…

—New Transfer of Cash to Yahoo! Shareholders. This proposal would have transferred $9 billion from Microsoft to Yahoo!, which could have been used by Yahoo! to reward their shareholders.

—A More Profitable Ongoing Business. This proposal would have resulted in higher operating income on an annual basis for Yahoo!, with our projections more than doubling Yahoo!’s operating income in the first year of operation, and increasing it by more than $1 billion above its current operating income level.

—A More Compelling Search Offering. The combination of the search platforms would have unlocked new R&D innovation, eliminated redundant engineering efforts and allowed for greater scale in serving our customers.

Even with the obvious Microsoft spin, it seems Yahoo took an "anyone but Microsoft" path.

L'envie d'aimer 爱的渴望

法语歌充满了浪漫气息，咖啡、法语香颂、午后阳光，是许多人心中慵懒惬意的组合。而这首《L'envie d'aimer》则是如此荡气回肠，在法语歌曲中是不多见的。
